Berry House
Solo x 9: artists in Clerkenwell
19 June – 8 August 1998
The deserted warehouse of the Allied Brewery site was converted into a gallery space for nine separate solo exhibitions. The industrial scale of the 5 storey building provided appropriate spaces for a wide range of work, ranging from the British premiere of Susan Hiller’s major new video installation, ‘Wild Talents’, to large scale solo shows by a number of mid-career artists, such as Frances Aviva Blane, Clem Crosby, Neil Cummings, Marysia Lewandowska, and Liz Rideal, as well as the emerging younger artists, Nikki Savvas, Dryden Goodwin and Effie Paleologou; the latter three all shown work at ‘the new contemporaries’.
